This young miro is what we want to see in our ngahere – regeneration of the
podocarps. The miro berry is a special food on which the kereru fattens at the time of
year when these birds were traditionally harvested.
Our purpose is to:
• Retain ownership of the Tuawhenua lands to the
original hapu and whanau
• Fulfil overall kaitiaki responsibility of the lands
vested in the Trust
• Make Te Tumanako o Te Tuawhenua happen,
