Nau mai, haere mai ki te ipurangi o Nga Kaitiaki o Tuawhenua!
Welcome to the website of the Tuhoe Tuawhenua Trust!
We are an Ahuwhenua trust for 25 blocks of land in the Tuawhenua region which surrounds the Ruatahuna valley in Te
Urewera. We have a range of activities including business development in honey production and indigenous forestry, and
projects in research, biodiversity and pest control. Our website is under ongoing development but we are pleased to share
with you what we can at this point in time. Enjoy....
Te marua o Ruatahuna – the Ruatahuna valley. The photo is taken from the southern end of the valley looking out towards Whakatane and the Bay of Plenty. These are
the headwaters of the Whakatane River which forms and flows north through the middle of the Ruatahuna valley. The Tuawhenua lands are in general the bush-clad area
surrounding the Ruatahuna valley and neighbouring valleys. (Photo courtesy of GNS Science).
